About Us

Northumberland Green Hub is a growing and enthusiastic community that’s all about making a difference. Our aim is to make it easy to share knowledge and resources, publicise events, find funding, work together and get mutual support.

We formed NGH in September 2023, inspired by a workshop with individuals and community groups active in climate change, the environment and sustainability.

Members can join our Community Events, receive our Monthly Digest and be part of our Special Interest Groups.

Membership is FREE. Most of our members are based in north Northumberland – but wherever you are, you’re welcome to join!

NGH is run by a Steering Group of six volunteers. The current members of the Steering Group are:

Carmel Adamson
I’m a member of Amble Womens Institute. I was introduced to organic life, FoE and climate issues at the age of 17. I’ve had a shop selling eco-friendly products and refills and now work for North East Organic Growers.

Julia Chambers
I’m a member of Warkworth Green Matters. I was a biochemist and worked in research and technical sales. I am passionate about land use, environment, climate and nature. 


Liz Clark
I’m a member of Swarland and Newton Action on Climate (SNAC). I’ve had a varied working life including physics research, social work and IT. I’m fascinated by the natural world and finding ways to protect it.

Colin Elliot
I have been part of Greener Berwick since its inception in 2020. My background is in the built environment, including running collaborative design projects. I’m a keen traveller and cyclist and have an interest in permaculture.

Lesley Long
I’m a member of SNAC. I’m a passionate believer in the power of community action to bring about change. I am constantly curious, love learning and meeting new people. I bring a number of skills including, training and facilitating groups and computer coaching.

Mike Powell
I’m a member of Alnwick Friends of the Earth. I worked in humanitarian and development work and then specialised in information, knowledge, and communication issues in development, particularly at the grass roots.
