Members took part in the third NGH event of the year – focusing on different aspects of the food system. The morning began with a viewing of a short film from The Food Conversation called The Chicken Wrap which highlights issues ranging from land use to farming practices and the impact of big business.
During the break, members contributed to a map and directory of food related projects and initiatives across north Northumberland. The initial list will be added to over the coming weeks to provide an accessible resource.
Sarah Bredin-Kemp then gave a overview of the Full Circle Project in Ashington, which provides food education projects giving people the skills they need to grow their own produce and giving people a sense of community through cooking classes and workshops.

After discussion groups covering topics such as how we can make better use of food resources and the Northumberland food story, the morning finished with a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch which highlighted the fantastic range of cooking skills pof members!
