The latest NGH Community Event took place on June 7th, marking the start of Great Big Green Week. The morning featured talks from Duncan Hutt, Director of Conservation, and Graham Holyoak, Nature Recovery Manager, from the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.
Duncan, who is leading the project to purchase the Rothbury Estate, explained how the project will provide an opportunity for landscape scale nature recovery, involving traditional conservation methods as well as regenerative farming and nature-led initiatives.
Graham, who leads the Wilder Northumberland Network, continued the nature recovery theme and gave examples of how different types of sites from reserves to woodland and water courses can become part of a wider wildlife corridor from the coast to the border.
The morning also included a book swap, as well as a chance for members to share news and promote forthcoming events.
The event highlighted just how much is happening in Northumberland, both through large scale projects and community based initiatives.
